Surgical and Trauma Intensive Care Unit

Bordeaux University Hospital

Our commitments to supporting you:

You or someone close to you has just been admitted to intensive care.

LifeMapp was designed to guide you through every stage of an intensive care stay and provide all the information you need. Conceived as a compass, the app helps you find your bearings and move towards returning to everyday life. Developed by the One O One Endowment Fund, LifeMapp is available free of charge to units that request it.

Welcome

Welcome to our Surgical and Trauma Intensive Care Unit.

The unit has 25 beds divided between five five-bed sections.

Our team provides intensive care around the clock, seven days a week, to adults and children requiring continuous monitoring and attention following an accident, major surgery or a serious illness. We do everything possible to offer both medical and compassionate support to patients and their families.

Care also continues overnight: two doctors are on duty at all times during the night and at weekends to ensure continuous care for your loved one. You may meet different doctors during the stay. Every member of the medical team is familiar with each patient’s situation thanks to daily handovers.

Here to support you: An admission to intensive care is often difficult and can raise many questions and concerns. Our psychologist is available to listen and support you throughout the stay, including when children visit. Our social worker is based in the unit and is available to listen, provide information and support families throughout their loved one’s care pathway, including with administrative and social matters.

Our multidisciplinary team is here to listen and support you at every stage. Please speak to us whenever you have a question or need guidance.
