Welcome to the Gustave Roussy Intensive Care Unit.

The Gustave Roussy ICU is one of the very few intensive care units in France to be located within a comprehensive cancer centre. It is entirely dedicated to caring for patients with cancer or haematological malignancies who require continuous monitoring and, in some cases, specialist intensive care treatments.

Every day, our multidisciplinary team works closely with the hospital’s other departments to provide the highest possible standards of safe care, taking into account the specific needs associated with cancer.

We also help train future healthcare professionals and regularly welcome student nurses, physiotherapists, healthcare assistants and doctors.

We are strongly involved in clinical research, with the aim of continually improving medical knowledge and care for patients and their families. Patients and their family members may therefore be invited to take part in research studies.

We attach particular importance to supporting patients and their families with empathy, kindness and humanity during what is often a very difficult time. However, providing care and dealing with emergencies may sometimes mean that we are not immediately available, particularly outside normal working hours. We will do everything possible to listen to you and answer your questions as soon as we can.

To ensure that your loved one benefits from both the best possible care and your essential support, visiting is permitted around the clock in accordance with the Visiting Charter. Children are welcome in the unit, and our team can help you prepare their visit so that it takes place under the best possible conditions.

A psycho-oncology team is also available to provide support should you feel the need.
