LifeMapp is designed to guide you through every stage of an intensive care stay and provide the information you need. Like a compass, it helps you find your bearings and move towards everyday life again. Developed by the One O One Endowment Fund, LifeMapp is available free of charge to units that request it.

Intensive care treats patients with acute illnesses causing failure of one or more organs, such as the heart, lungs or kidneys, and who may require specialist organ support such as mechanical ventilation or dialysis.Our department has three sections: a 16-bed General Intensive Care Unit, a four-bed General High-Dependency Unit and a four-bed Resuscitation Area.Our multidisciplinary team includes doctors and medical students, nurses, healthcare assistants, physiotherapists, dietitians and a psychologist.The team also includes two nurse managers, reception staff, medical secretaries and a social worker.This brochure will guide you step by step throughout your loved one’s stay in intensive care.

Visitor information
The intensive care unit is open 24 hours a day, so you may visit your loved one whenever you wish. However, their treatment must not be interrupted, and we may therefore ask you to wait while a procedure or examination is completed before entering the room. It is also important to note that the medical and care teams cannot provide updates at all times of day and night. To make communication easier, a main family contact should be appointed, such as the designated trusted person, a relative or a friend. This person will be the intensive care team’s primary point of contact. Learn more
Children are welcome to visit, but visits need to be carefully planned. Please speak to the unit team to arrange one.
