Intensive Care Medicine

Simone Veil Hospital – Cannes Hospital Centre

Our commitments to supporting you:

You or someone close to you has just been admitted to intensive care.

LifeMapp was designed to guide you through every stage of an intensive care stay and provide all the information you need. Conceived as a compass, the app helps you find your bearings and move towards returning to everyday life. Developed by the One O One Endowment Fund, LifeMapp is available free of charge to units that request it.

Welcome to the Cannes Intensive Care Unit

Welcome to our intensive care unit, where we care for critically ill patients facing severe medical emergencies that require continuous monitoring and highly specialised treatment, day and night.

We know that an admission to intensive care can be overwhelming, both for the patient and for those close to them. Our team is fully committed not only to providing the best possible medical care, but also to supporting you with humanity, attentiveness, clarity and as much availability as possible.

Our unit comprises 16 single rooms and a multidisciplinary team trained to manage the complexity of critical illness: intensive care doctors, a nurse manager, nurses, healthcare assistants, a psychologist, physiotherapists, administrative staff, a dietitian, a speech and language therapist, an occupational therapist and others. Every professional contributes to care that is comprehensive, respectful and personalised. Medical cover is provided around the clock, with care teams changing every 12 hours to ensure rigour and continuity.

We work closely with all the other intensive care units in the region.

Our unit is also committed to several important areas:

  • ethical reflection embedded in our care practices, protecting patients’ dignity and autonomy;
  • active participation in biomedical research, helping to advance knowledge;
  • a strong commitment to organ donation, in accordance with people’s wishes and the law, and with the belief that solidarity can be expressed even at life’s most critical moments.

  • To support you, we provide access to the LifeMapp web app, which will help you understand the intensive care environment and the different stages of the care pathway. Please ask the team any questions you may have: your presence, your words and your concerns all have a place here.

    In 1990, Paul Ricœur wrote in a work that would transform approaches to care: “To make oneself capable of caring for another is to make oneself worthy of trust.” This is the spirit in which we work alongside you every day.
