Our commitments to supporting you:
You or someone close to you has just been admitted to intensive care.
LifeMapp was designed to guide you through every stage of an intensive care stay and provide all the information you need. Conceived as a compass, the app helps you find your bearings and move towards returning to everyday life. Developed by the One O One Endowment Fund, LifeMapp is available free of charge to units that request it.
Dear Sir or Madam, Someone close to you has just been admitted to our intensive care unit. We know that this can be an overwhelming experience, bringing worry, questions and sometimes a profound sense of helplessness, whether the person in hospital is an adult or a child. This document is intended to support you throughout the hospital stay. It provides practical points of reference to help you understand the intensive care environment and how our unit works, together with answers to the questions families ask most often. Our medical, nursing and allied health teams work day and night to provide highly specialised care that respects every patient’s dignity, safety and individual needs. We also know that you are deeply affected by this experience. We therefore remain available at all times to listen, provide information and support you. A space has also been set aside for you to express yourself. You can write, draw or leave a message, a thought, an emotion or a memory—whether of joy, fear, hope or vulnerability. These words, whether or not you choose to share them, may help you through this difficult period. For the person in hospital, reading them later may also provide a precious connection and an anchor in the experience you shared. With our full attention and care,

Before entering the unit, please go to intensive care reception, route 354 on level -1, and introduce yourself to the reception coordinator. They will check that your loved one is ready to receive visitors. At certain times, and in consultation with the care team, we may ask you to return to reception so that we can provide care, carry out examinations or manage particular circumstances.
For children under 15, a visit will be considered only after discussion between the parents and the care team.
For their safety, a patient may sometimes have their wrists gently secured. These restraints can look alarming, but they prevent accidental actions that could have serious consequences, such as removing the breathing tube or drains. The bed may also have side rails to prevent the patient from falling.
Patient comfort is one of our main priorities. Measures may include pain management, pressure-relieving mattresses, music therapy, psychological support for the patient and/or family when needed, and the continuous presence of nursing and medical staff.
