General intensive care unit

Bretagne Atlantique Hospital Centre (CHBA)

Our commitments to supporting you:

You or someone close to you has just been admitted to intensive care.

LifeMapp is designed to guide you through every stage of an intensive care stay and provide the information you need. Like a compass, it helps you find your bearings and move towards everyday life again. Developed by the One O One Endowment Fund, LifeMapp is available free of charge to units that request it.

Welcome

Welcome to the information page for the intensive care unit at Vannes Hospital Centre. Our unit cares for patients who require continuous monitoring, highly specialised treatment and round-the-clock medical cover. It has 12 intensive care beds and 8 High-Dependency Unit beds, allowing the level of care to be tailored as closely as possible to each patient’s needs.

Our medical, nursing, allied health and administrative teams work around the clock to provide the best possible care, both technically and compassionately. We know that having someone close to you admitted to intensive care is difficult and can lead to worry and many questions. We therefore maintain regular communication with you through daily updates, accessible teams, and support in understanding treatment and medical decisions.

The unit is actively involved in clinical research to continually improve practice and provide care based on the most up-to-date knowledge. This work helps strengthen the quality and safety of care.
The entire care team pays close attention to the comfort of patients and those close to them while providing the best possible treatment.
Families are welcome every day and receive clear, honest information about their loved one’s condition.

Thank you for placing your trust in us. Please speak to the team whenever you have a question or would like to talk: we are here for you.

Our unit takes part in research groups working to improve care for intensive care patients.
