LifeMapp was designed to guide you through every stage of an intensive care stay and provide all the information you need. Conceived as a compass, the app helps you find your bearings and move towards returning to everyday life. Developed by the One O One Endowment Fund, LifeMapp is available free of charge to units that request it.
Welcome to our Intensive Care Medicine unit. Our team provides intensive care to adults who require either full intensive care or high-dependency care. We do everything possible to support our patients and their families. The care teams will do their best to welcome you and provide an update as quickly as possible. However, waiting times can sometimes be long because staff may be caring for patients and cannot always be available immediately. We understand how difficult and distressing this time can be, and would like to express our empathy and support during this period of vulnerability. This app is designed to provide practical information, help you understand how our unit works and guide you through what can be a complex time. We know that you will have many questions, and we will always be here to listen and answer them throughout this journey. A psychologist is available to listen and provide support to you and your family throughout the hospital stay. Our multidisciplinary team remains available to listen and support you at every stage.

Our unit takes part in research groups working to improve care for intensive care patients.
Feeling powerless as a crisis unfolds before us can make the intensive care experience particularly difficult, both for the person in hospital and for those close to them. Although the teams do everything possible to offer kindness and empathy, this is sometimes not enough. It is often in this space that the psychologist can help. Their role in intensive care is to provide a place for conversation and reflection, helping you understand and face the situation as well as possible. Whether or not you feel ready to talk, if you feel overwhelmed or lost, please ask the team to contact the psychologist. Or simply ask for “Robin”!
