Médecine Intensive et Réanimation adulte – Centre Hospitalier Universitaire d’Angers

Dear Sir or Madam

The Department of Intensive Care Medicine includes 24 intensive care beds and 10 continuous care beds.

Its mission is to take care of patients suffering from an acute affection leading to the dysfunction of one or several vital organs and thus justifying the implementation of assistance methods and/or a very close surveillance. The members of the department, whatever their profession, share the same constant concern to provide our patients with the best possible care.

Patients’ relatives are welcome to visit us and receive clear and honest information about their loved one’s situation. We are here for them too.

We are proud to be at your service.

What is intensive care?

Intensive care is the general medicine for life-threatening conditions. It manages the most critical patients, those whose life and function of major organs (heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, or nervous system) are directly threatened. Regardless of the cause that jeopardizes life, intensive care prioritizes the lives of patients.

A resuscitation service operates 24/7 for continuous monitoring of vital functions and ongoing adjustment of therapies. To ensure this specific care, numerous caregivers, consistently present, provide multiple treatments requiring the use of sophisticated medical equipment.
