LifeMapp was designed to guide you through every stage of an intensive care stay and provide all the information you need. Conceived as a compass, the app helps you find your bearings and move towards returning to everyday life. Developed by the One O One Endowment Fund, LifeMapp is available free of charge to units that request it.
A member of your family or someone close to you has been admitted to our Intensive Care or General High-Dependency Unit. This is a difficult time, often accompanied by anxiety, forgetfulness and a disrupted sense of time. This website was created to support you throughout the hospital stay. It provides practical points of reference to help you understand the intensive care environment and how our unit works, together with answers to the questions families ask most often. Our unit has also used an ICU diary for several years. The diary can help answer questions during or after the stay. By recording the main events that take place inside or outside the unit each day, it enables patients to reconstruct their story and make it their own again. Our unit takes part in research groups working to improve care for intensive care patients.
A stay in intensive care is a time of uncertainty, with emotions shifting between hope and discouragement. I can support you during this complex period. I am available to patients who would like support and to their families and loved ones. I can also be asked to support children and teenagers. I am present in the unit: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday afternoon.

Children are welcome to visit, but visits need to be carefully planned. Please speak to the unit team to arrange one.
Visiting is permitted around the clock, although overnight visits are discouraged because it is important for both patients and their families to rest. No more than two people may be in the room at the same time. Find out more
